Special collections

1. Reliquary for the finger of Saint Roch, Venetian Art, late 17th century – first half of the 18th century. Scuola Grande, Treasury.
2. Porcelain jug. Scuola Grande, porcelain collection.

The Scuola possesses several special collections, some of which are already accessible to visitors, while others will be displayed once restorations are complete.

The Treasury, contains many artistic items of great value, such as the reliquaries (see fig. 1), chalices, monstrances, candelabras, the “paci”, altar cards, crucifixes, astylar crosses, etc. The complete collection will be on display in the designated location which is accessible from the Upper Room.

The Picture gallery is made up of medium and small pictures, drawings, engravings, etc. It is currently in storage in the Scrigni (Scuola Grande). However, a good part of the collection will be displayed in the Scoletta, once the restoration is complete.

The Collection of Ceramic Art is partly (see fig. 2) in the Ground Floor Room, until the time comes to transfer it to the Scoletta. The core of the collection is made up of 140 pieces. The illustrated catalogue, which is currently sold out, can be consulted in the library and will be reprinted once the new collection is established.

The Collection of Holy Vestments (270 pieces) has been conserved in suitable containers in the Sala dell'Albergo. Only a fragment of this collection will be displayed in the Scoletta.
