Ground Floor Hall

The canvases decorating the Sala are dedicated to episodes of the life of the Virgin Mary and the childhood of Christ. From the left, they are: The Annunciation, The Adoration of the Magi, The Flight into Egypt, The Slaughter of the Innocents, The Circumcision, The Assumption of the Virgin. Near the windows at the back of the room, two Saints are shown: St. Mary of Egypt and St. Mary Magdalene.

On the altar located at the back wall is a statue of Saint Roch by Gerolamo Campagna from the early Sixteenth century; at the sides four Saints by a late-Lombard sculptor (Sixteenth century). Next to these, in a showcase, is a wooden model of the Church’s façade, in a design by G. Fossati dated 1741.

To the left of the entrance some panels contain the names of the members in office of the Cancelleria and of all the Confratelli in alphabetical order, according to custom.

Four show-cases contain artistic pottery and porcelain which constitute one of the special collections kept at the Scuola. On the wall a Busto del Redentore attributed to Tullio Lombardo and a Busto della Vergine addolorata attributed to Bonazza are temporarily being displayed.
